ABU Trailers Inc. is a family run corporation located in Southeastern North Dakota in the village of Dwight. Since its start in 1994, ABU has enjoyed a steady growth in their company.

They contribute this success to building a quality trailer built to last. ABU manufactures flatbed trailers from 5' x 8' single axle utility to heavy-duty Pintle and Gooseneck trailers. We offer standardized models and are capable of building custom trailers to fit your needs.

In May of 2000, ABU had a fire that destroyed their entire manufacturing facility. They have rebuilt on the same location and are now in a new larger, modern facility.

These are just a few of the most popular trailers ABU has to offer.

We take pride in the manufacturing of a trailer built to provide you with the years of good service. Proper maintenance will ensure a longer lasting and safer trailer. For more detailed information and tips, please consult your Owner's Manual.

Brakes

Brakes must be checked and in working order each time trailer is used.

Your trailer has brakes on one or all axles depending on trailer order. Inspect the wear on brakes regularly, at least as often as you check the bearings and seals. You should always check the brakes, bearings, and seals whenever the trailer has not been used for an extended period of time.

Your trailer is equipped with a breakaway braking system. Make sure system is fully operational. Always make sure battery is fully charged before each use.

GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight)

GVW consists of weight of trailer and cargo combined. Overloading is dangerous and will void warranty.

Coupler or Hitch

Be a safe driver towing your trailer. Always be certain the coupler and safety chains are locked properly and the pin is in place. Check to be sure that the ball and the coupler are the same size. Make sure ball used to pull trailer is rated as high as GVW of trailer. Always try to pull a level trailer.

Wheels and Axles

We recommend that at time of delivery you check the lug bolts on each wheel to be certain they are sufficiently tight. On first trip, tighten wheel lugs at the start of trip and at 10, 25, and 50 miles. Tighten to manufacturer's specifications. Thereafter, check wheel lugs before each trip, after excessive braking and following winter storage.

Tire and Air Pressure

GVW may change depending on size of tire and air pressure. Check sidewall of tire on your trailer for correct air pressure and load capacity of tire.

Paint

A new trailer should not be waxed or polished for four weeks after manufacturing date. Wash with mild detergent and rinse before polishing or waxing.

Parking

When the trailer is not in use, raise the jack as high as possible. It is also advisable to block the wheels whenever the trailer is parked.
